Welcome to the family website of Sunderland footballer Arthur Wright.
Dad had a very proud playing career and gave 35 years loyal service to Sunderland AFC.
Arthur is believed to be the clubs longest serving one club man, making
281 first team appearances either side of WW2.
From making his first team debut at the age of 18 ( a rarity back in those days) in 1938
and going on to play his last league game for the Lads at Bramall Lane in 1955
at the age of 35, he then stayed with the club as part of the backroom staff
for a further 14 years.
We hope that you enjoy reminiscing over "proper footy" from days gone by
and please feel to contact us to share any memories that you have of
SAFC during the 40s, 50s or 60s
